Why I'm voting for Mike Huckabee A short, living essay by Harrison If one belongs to the "Mike Huckabee for President" social network, it isn't a stretch of the imagination to know that he or she is planning to vote for Mike Huckabee in the primary election this year. But why that person is voting for Mr. Huckabee is important, because on election night, only the numbers will matter; it's the principles behind those numbers, however, that are most important.
First, I am voting for Mr. Huckabee because I think his plans and ideas make the most sense. I'm not just talking about what aligns the most with my personal ideals, I'm talking about what are actually the most common-sense ideas I've ever heard. Take, for example, his plans for the American healthcare system. What medical providers are focusing on is just how to treat a problem when it happens. But Mr. Huckabee proposes that we focus on preventing that problem in the first place. Makes sense to me. His support of the FairTax initiative gets rid of the federal income tax and taxes us on what we spend, not on how much we earn. This way, we can save our money without penalty, and we don't need to dread April 15 anymore. Makes sense to me.
There are a lot of other common sense ideas that Mr. Huckabee has. You can find all of them
here.
Second, Mr. Huckabee has some of the best qualifications for the job. Our Congress has been hopelessly out of whack for awhile, not getting anything done, and reduced to petty fighting. Other candidates are senators or representatives that have no strong leadership experience. Mr. Huckabee was governor of a state with lots of inter-government issues that he dealt with strongly, fairly, and wisely.
Finally, Mr. Huckabee has a strong voice. His ideas are clearly articulated, and he is easy to rally around. He embodies much of what Republicans want in a leader, and includes some newer ideas that can make Republicans a stronger political party. I believe that Mike Huckabee will be a responsible Republican, a responsible President, and a responsible American.
